The Gift or the Giver?

What's more important, the gift or the Giver

It is written: Thou shalt love the Lord thy God

with all your heart soul and mind

and

Love your neighbor as yourself

Insincere respect: support or agreement that does not appear to be sincere because the words spoken are not followed up by appropriate action or behavior

While it is wonderful to receive a gift, our liking of the gift should never become more important than the relationship we have with the One who gave it to us.

It is not the gift that makes us something special, but the Giver of the gift that makes us something distinctive. The gift should never be used in such a way as to make the ones we are supposed to love feel wounded.

Don't let your daily relationship with God in thoughts and prayer become dwarfed by the understanding you receive thru the Gift of the Holy Spirit in your life. These things are given to be a blessing to you and not meant to overshadow your relationship with God or demean the ones we are supposed to love.
